Welcome To The Big League

Established in 2014 we, with our communities have gone from strength to strength.

In the most difficult of times our team, local people and our partner organisations have worked incredibly hard to create a safety net across the town. Making sure that those in crisis have somewhere to turn, and that once the worst is over there is a way to start rebuilding and moving forward.

From emergency food parcels and crisis cover to volunteering and work placements, from social connection to community celebration The Big League is committed to Hartlepool, is proud of our amazing town and people and refuses to accept the negative story so many want to tell.

We know how hard it is for people at this time but we also know how kind and resourceful our communities are. Together we are making a huge difference, we are uniting to help each other, using our creativity to develop new ideas and opportunities and making sure we share a laugh along the way.

“We continue to plan for the future, how best to manage the difficulties while remaining ambitious for Hartlepool and all its residents. We work with our communities, they are at the heart of all our projects, central to the ideas we develop and the plans we make. Though we know the coming years will be challenging, we won’t stop.”

Our Objectives

The Big League will benefit those people living and working in and around Hartlepool, especially those in the poorest communities
It will offer those in crisis, support such as food, warm space, clothing, household goods, white goods and furniture
It will also offer learning, volunteering and work opportunities to those same individuals and families helping them to manage and improve their circumstances
All profits generated will be used to extend and expand services and to support the future of the company

Hartlepool has more than its share of problems but it is also an amazing place to live and work.

Everyday we see evidence of good and resourceful people and organisations beating the odds and doing amazing things, small acts of kindness and bravery leading to positive change. If you can donate to our cause, offer your support through connecting services, volunteering or delivering support for or with us, we want to hear from you. We know that together we can change Hartlepool for the better, please join us!

“We were to take an old fridge away but the elderly lady seemed distressed. We realised she was struggling with lots of things. After a chat, we quickly changed some light bulbs, reattached her bed head which had broken and moved her armchair closer to the television (she couldn’t see too well). Such a little thing but it made a big difference to her. We call in when we pass and she’s also linked to our Know Your Neighbourhood Project now”

“There are some really terrible days, people in such awful situations, like they’ve given up hope. But something small can make such a difference, listening to them, a cup of tea. It isn’t always about the big things, sometimes it’s just being there when they’re at their lowest to say “you’re not alone””
